The “Free Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities” is a transformative initiative designed to empower individuals facing mobility challenges due to disabilities. Spearheaded by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 2020, this program offers a lifeline to those struggling to navigate society due to physical limitations. By providing free motorized tricycles, the scheme aims to break down barriers hindering economic and social integration.

This initiative serves as a catalyst for the economic and social rehabilitation of its beneficiaries, granting them newfound independence and facilitating their active participation in daily life.

Eligibility for the program hinges on several factors. Individuals grappling with conditions such as muscular dystrophy, stroke, cerebral palsy, or hemophilia may qualify, subject to specific criteria. These criteria encompass requirements for good eyesight, mental capacity, and adequate upper body strength necessary for operating the tricycle while seated. Moreover, applicants must possess a disability certification from the Chief Medical Officer of their district, validating their disability at a minimum of 80%.

Benefits of Free Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities
The maximum grant amount under this scheme is either the actual price of the motorized tricycle or ₹25,000/-, whichever is the minimum per person with disabilities. Note: If the cost of a motorized tricycle exceeds ₹25,000/-, the beneficiary will be responsible for covering the additional expenses beyond the maximum grant amount of ₹25,000/-.
Eligibility for Motorized Tricycle Scheme for Persons with Disabilities
–> Resident of Uttar Pradesh. –> Age of beneficiary should be 16 or above. –> Family annual income should not exceed ₹1,50,000/- from all sources. –> Benefits can be availed only once by the beneficiary. –> No prior receipt of a motorized tricycle from Government of India/Local Bodies/Member of Legislative Assembly Fund/MPLADS or other Government or Government-funded sources. –> Disability certification of 80% or more by the Chief Medical Officer of the district is required.
