The primary aim of this scheme is to offer financial grants to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to purchase artificial limbs and necessary auxiliary equipment. Eligibility is based on whether the individual (employed or self-employed) or their family (if dependent) earns within the prescribed BPL limits: Rs.46,080/- for rural areas and Rs.56,460/- for urban areas, considering all income sources annually, as per Uttar Pradesh Government guidelines.
The scheme provides the following support tailored to specific disabilities:
- Mobility Assistance Equipment such as tricycles, wheelchairs, C.P. chairs, crutches, walking sticks.
- Educational equipment like mathematical, abacus, geometry kits, and Braille educational kits for visually impaired students.
- Blind sticks for those with visual impairments.
- Various types of hearing aids and educational kits for individuals with hearing impairments.
- M.S.I.D. kits (Multi-Sensory Education Development Kits) for children and students with mental disabilities.
- Daily activity kits for individuals recovering from leprosy.
For individuals with multiple disabilities or those requiring more than one type of assistance, a maximum financial grant of Rs.10,000/- is provided in a single installment.
Artificial Limbs Assistive Equipments Scheme – Uttar Pradesh : Benefits
- Financial grants up to Rs. 8,000/- are available for purchasing artificial limbs and auxiliary equipment for persons with disabilities.
- Individuals with multiple disabilities or those requiring more than one aid can receive a maximum financial grant of Rs. 10,000/- in a single disbursement.
Artificial Limbs Assistive Equipments Scheme – Uttar Pradesh : Eligibility
- Resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- Person with disability of at least 40%, certified by State Government’s Competent Authority.
- Mental retardation certified by Competent Authority, indicating abnormal growth or incomplete mind development.
- Medical recommendation for artificial limbs/accessories.
- Not received benefits for equipment from Indian Government/State Government/Local Bodies in the last three years (one year for regular students).
- Annual income within the poverty line (Rs. 46,080/- rural, Rs. 56,460/- urban) for applicant or family.
Artificial Limbs Assistive Equipments Scheme – Uttar Pradesh: Offline Application Process
- Apply through the Office of the PWD Empowerment Officer / Jan Suvidha Kendra / Lokvani kendra.
- Visit the office to obtain the application form or download it online.
- Complete the form as per the given instructions.
- Attach necessary documents: Photo, Residence/Domicile Certificate, Certificate of Disability, Caste Certificate (if applicable), Income Certificate, and Medical Report.
- Submit the completed application form to the designated officer.
- The District PWD Empowerment Officer will review applications and approve financial grants based on availability, following a ‘First Come, First Serve’ basis.
- Beneficiaries will receive Auxiliary Equipment through camps organized across various districts, also on a ‘First Come, First Serve’ basis.
