The Department of Sports, Government of Uttar Pradesh, has started the “Laxman Award” for male sportspersons and the “Rani Lakshmi Bai Award” for female sportspersons. These awards will honor athletes in 31 different sports disciplines.

• Recognizes sports personalities.
• Includes:
  • Citation.
  • Bronze statue of either Laxman or Rani Laxmi Bai.
  • Scroll.
  • Cash prize of ₹3,11,000/-.

Laxman Award Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme Uttar Pradesh : Eligibility

Residence Requirement:

• The player must be a bonafide native of Uttar Pradesh.

Participation Criteria:

• The player must have been a member of the state senior team for at least three consecutive years: 2018-19, 2019-20, and 2020-21.
• The player must have participated in the National Games or National Senior Championship for the year 2021-22.

Medal Requirement:

• The player must have won a medal in the National Games/National Senior Championship for which the award is recommended.

International Participation:

• Participation in international competitions such as the Olympic Games, World Championship/World Cup, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, Asian Championship, Commonwealth Championship, or SAF Games makes the player eligible.

Drug and Legal Compliance:

• The player must submit an affidavit stating they have never consumed drugs during any competition.
• The player must also declare that they have not been found guilty in any court case or involved in any sexual harassment case.

Awards:

• Eligible male players will receive the Laxman Award.
• Eligible female players will receive the Rani Laxmi Bai Award.
• The awards are given for significant achievements in 31 sports: Swimming, Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Canoeing & Kayaking, Cycling, Horse Riding, Fencing, Football, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Rowing, Shooting, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Taekwondo, Yachting, Golf, Cricket, Soft Tennis, Karate, and Wushu.

One-Time Award:

• Each player can be awarded only once.

Award Cancellation:

• The government may cancel the award, requiring the return of the statue and inscription.
• The cancellation decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Disqualification:

• Any form of pleading for a recommendation will disqualify the entry.
• Players only participating in National Senior Championships/National Games are not eligible for the award.

Laxman Award Rani Laxmi Bai Award Scheme Uttar Pradesh: Offline Application Process

• Step 1: Get the application form in the prescribed format.
• Step 2:
  • Fill in all the mandatory fields.
  • Paste your passport-sized photograph (signed across if required).
  • Attach copies of all the mandatory documents (self-attest if required).
• Step 3: Submit the filled and signed application form along with the documents to the sports officer of your district.
• Step 4:
  • Request a receipt or acknowledgment from the authority to whom you submitted the application.
  • Ensure the receipt includes the date and time of submission and a unique identification number (if applicable).

• Two passport-size photographs
• Proof of age (Birth certificate)
• Identity proof (Aadhaar card)
• PAN card
• Domicile certificate
• Bank passbook (Account number, IFSC code)
• Details of sports competitions or championships at state, national, or international levels (including profiles of sports persons and supporting documents)
• Any other relevant documents, as required
